Field Shelter Specifications

CONSTRUCTION

Free construction is carried out by our fully trained staff rather than sub-contractors within a 50-mile radius of our workshop in Netherstreet, Chippenham, Wiltshire. Please contact us for construction charges outside of this area.

All sections are bolted together.

Two heavy-duty anchor brackets are fitted to the uprights of each 3.6m wall. These are then bolted to the base using mechanical fixings.

All fixings are fully galvanised.

HEIGHT

The eaves measure

Intro and Ideal Range, is 2135mm, and to the ridge 2900mm, including the galvanised steel plinth.

Elite Range, 2475mm, and to the ridge, 3245mm, including the galvanised steel plinth.

TREATMENT

All internal and external timber is pressure treated with Tanalith E™ wood preservative for longevity against fungal decay & insect attack. Not including boards.

FRAMEWORK

Intro and Ideal Range, 75mm x 50mm C16/C24 stress graded @ 610mm centres.

Elite Range, 100mm x 50mm C16/C24 stress graded @ 610mm centres.

Please note that many other manufacturers choose the smaller dimensioned 3” x 2” CLS (Canadian Lumber Standard), which is only 2.1/2”x 1.1/2”. As wood is a natural product, thicker means stronger, and therefore your building will last longer with a thicker frame.

SHIPLAP CLADDING

We only use top quality 5th-grade Scandinavian redwood, fully tanalised for longevity against fungal decay & insect attack.

Intro and Ideal Range, 16mm x 125mm

Elite Range, 19mm x 150mm

ROOF COVERING

Our standard offering is black Onduline with a minimum 15-degree pitch.

Alternatively, you may want an attractive felt shingle roof. Add a touch of originality price to the application.

ROOF LINING

Intro Range Roof lining can be fitted as an optional feature.

Ideal and Elite Range, lined with 11mm OSB for additional strength and longevity. The lined Onduline roof also provides a cooler environment in the summer and warmth in the winter months.

ROOF TIMBERS/PURLINGS

Intro Range, 100mm x 47mm C16/24 stress graded purlings @ 610mm centres.

Ideal and Elite Range, 125mm x 47mm C16/24 stress graded purlings @ 610mm centres. Front/Gutter purlings 150mm x 50mm C16/24 stress graded.

CANOPY

Fully supported by a prefabricated plated truss.

Intro Range, Extends to 900mm at the front.

Ideal and Elite Range, Extends to 1200mm at the front.

GUTTERING

Fitted to the front as standard, we use a half-round black guttering and include downpipes at both ends of the building. Rear guttering is also available.

KICKBOARDS

Intro and Ideal Range, Field Shelters are lined to 1220mm high and include noggins to prevent objects from dropping behind, Elite Range is lined to eaves height. As standard, we use OSB moisture resistant (Oriented Strand Board), manufactured to BS5669.

Intro Range, 11mm.

Ideal and Elite Range, 18mm.

DAMP PROOF COURSE

The DPC is fitted to the underside of all sole (bottom timber) plates.
