Mobile Field Shelters are a perfect solution If you do not own the paddocks on which your horses are kept, are experiencing difficulties obtaining planning permission for a permanent structure – or need a quick solution to shelter your horse or other animals.

We have been manufacturing portable shelters since 2001. We began after careful consideration of the marketplace to ensure we created a stronger and more robust portable shelter than is generally available.

A significant difference when you purchase a Jon William Stables mobile shelter is the important feature of the sledge supplied. We designed and built the sledge to take all the stress. Made from heavy-duty galvanised steel and featuring anti-flex gussets fitted to the outside corners, preventing flex when towing. We also fit towing points and anchoring points at both ends, so it is both easier to move and secure to the ground.

Importantly we supply solid tow bars that can be used at either end of the building, rather than chains or straps, which eliminates the risk of damage to your towing vehicle.

  • Do I need planning permission?

    In some cases, yes. However, the vast majority of our mobile shelters do not require planning permission.

  • Do you supply the tow bars for the vehicles?

    Importantly, we supply solid tow bars that can be used at either end of the building, rather than chains or straps, eliminating the risk of damage to your towing vehicle.

  • Is a mobile field shelter suitable for a permanent living space for my horses?

    Yes!

  • What weight will the mobile building be?

    Buildings range from 1000kg for the very smallest to over 5000kg for the very largest Elite Range building.

  • We need something to house an animal as soon as possible. Can you help?

    As a family prioritising animals’ welfare, we will always do our best to accommodate your requirements.

  • Are Mobile Field Shelters easily repositioned?

    In good ground conditions, we easily move a 3.6m x 7.2m with a Land Rover Defender, but in wet conditions, we use a 4-wheel drive tractor

  • Does a mobile field shelter need a solid base platform to sit on?

    No, the building can be erected directly on the ground.

  • My access is bad, and the building needs to go across a field

    This is not a problem. We can provide a telehandler to deliver the building to the site (additional costs may apply).

  • How long will it take to construct?

    Most buildings are completed in just a few hours.
